Volunteering

More than 100 volunteers actively participate in unique opportunities to work side by side with museum professionals in a variety of areas including conservation, collections, exhibit development, library science, research, visitor services, and public programs.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Native Goods, the Museum Store: The Arizona State Museum Store sells authentic merchandise related to the museum experience. Your main responsibility is to engage shoppers with your enthusiasm and your knowledge about the objects on display. One 4-hour shift per week requested.

ASM Visitor Services: Visitor Services volunteers welcome the museum's visitors with hearty greetings, warm smiles, and helpful attitudes; 3–4 hours per week.

ASM Public Programs: On and off-site program presenter and program aide: 3–6 hours per month. If you enjoy large community events, have an interest in southwestern cultures, get a kick out of jumpstarting kids' creativity, then you'll love being a program presenter for Arizona State Museum.

ASM School and Camp Programs: Activity Guide, 3 hours per week. Enjoy working with children? If so, the ASM Education Department would love to have your help guiding students through hands-on discovery stations during interactive school and summer camp programs.

Website Project Volunteer: Help ASM get the word out to the world about our wonderful collections and interesting activities; 20 to 150 hours per project (flexible scheduling).
