The Database Specialist, Senior position is a 1.0 full-time equivalency (FTE) classified staff position within the Collections Division of the Arizona State Museum (ASM), University of Arizona. The Database Specialist, Senior position reports to the ASM Head of Collections. The weekly work schedule is usually 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday although some scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate special museum events. The incumbent assists in the implementation, operations, and maintenance of the museum’s collections information systems and databases. The incumbent will also assist in fulfillment of ASM’s state-mandated policies and responsibilities. This position combines functions involving operational oversight and content management for the Collections Division databases including the ASM-CCIS (hosted by Axiell EMu), Library & Archives (Voyager Library Catalog Software system), Arizona Records Office (SQL-SDE), and specialty databases in Microsoft Access and GIS. The incumbent will collaborate with technical teams from the Office of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI CITTT), and central Campus IT organizations to ensure the security and maintenance of ASM databases. The Arizona State Museum (ASM) at the University of Arizona seeks a motivated, innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented professional to serve as Database Specialist [GIS Database Specialist] for AZSITE, Arizona’s official geographic information system of archaeological and historical properties in Arizona (Arizona Executive Order 2006-03). In coordination with ASM’s Archaeological Records Office Manager, the incumbent manages database and GIS submissions of archaeological and historical properties for inclusion in AZSITE, works with clients and the AZSITE Consortium to keep AZSITE modern and relevant, and represents AZSITE at meetings and conferences.
